The Choice Pt 6

Chapter Thirteen:

The close to the empty bar is dimly lit as I walk out of the bathroom and back over to AJ who is sitting with Miko and some of her cast mates. I wrap my arm around her when I sit down. The next thing I know, three drunk guys and one chick walks over to us. They look at us “Ya’ll look familiar, have we met?” One of the guys slurred. We all shakes our heads no. “You, you and you” He pointed to Miko and her cast mates. “You really do, are you sure?” They shake their heads again. The chick leans over then whispers something in his ear. His face lit up like a light bulb. “Ya’ll are porn stars.” He starts to unzip his fly. “Can one of ya’ll suck me off.” The two guys laugh while the chick is trying to pull him away. It’s an uncomfortable feeling being I was happy that she was getting notice, but she’s with me, so I am protective of her.

AJ stands up. “I will, but I got to fuck you in the ass first.” He proudly joked. It got a good laugh from the cast mates, but Miko and I didn’t. The drunk guy charges at the table while his friends are pulling him back then AJ is just dying laughing. As his friends got the drunk guy away from us, we left being we didn’t want to deal with him again.

Chapter Fourteen:

There I was in my room again while the Angel just stares at me. “Do I change any of their life’s for the better?” I asked. The Angel shakes her head yes. “Who?” I asked.

The Angel shakes her head no. “I can’t tell you,” She said. Before I could open my mouth again. “I can’t tell you about money, happiness or kids” She added.

There goes my next couple of questions then it hits me. “Will any of them not find love in this life?” I asked while she smiles before shaking her head no. I can’t help to look at the Angel while thinking about the other side. “Can I chose not to pick one?” I asked being the status quo wouldn’t be affected too much.

The Angel disappears in a flash of light before reappearing seconds later. “You can but why would you want to?” She asked. “There’s going to be a lot of question when I get back.”

I just smiled at her being it was simple. “Why shall I be happy when it will cost someone else’s happiest,” I told her. “Besides, I got used to being alone; It’s not that hard.” She didn’t know what to say or do. “So, let me get back to sleep, then you can kill me or whatever you got to do,” I said before I walk over to turn off the light before trying to find my bed in the dark.

Chapter Fifteen:

December 26, There I was in a crowded mall alone while I was still thinking about the dream that I had with the blonde Angel. She seemed so real to me, but it was just a dream. The rumble of my stomach told me that I should get something to eat so I let it lead me to the food court. A Loud smack came from behind me, so I turn to see what it was. The next thing I feel is that I bumped into someone. I turned back to see a short blonde hair person on the floor. I extend my hand to help them up. A silky smooth hand grabs mine like in the dream. I assist the person up. She looks up at me. “Have we met before?” She asked.

I shake my head no. “I don’t think so,” I said. “Are you okay?” She shakes her head yes. “Have you ate?” She shakes her head no. “Wanna grabs a bite, on me,” I asked as she smiled.

The Choice Pt 5

Chapter eight:

I was back in my room, Christmas Eve night. The Angel is on my bed. “So, what do you think?”  She asked while I chuckled. “What is it?” She asked.

“So my choices are a pornstar, another chick that looks familiar, so she does porn most likely, a singer, my best friend from childhood and girl that likes to party,” I said. There’s silence while I thought it over being I know this choice isn’t going to be an easy one and I don’t want to mess up this one chance at love. “I know this might be selfish but can I one more shot to feel these girls out,” I asked.

The Angel smiles. “Ok, but this isn’t going to be the happiest things.” She said.

Chapter Nine:

There I was standing in another bedroom. The room okay with white walls and baby blue bedding. The place felt like home for some odd reason; I don’t know why. I couldn’t see the Angel anywhere in the room. I sat on the edge of the bed to calm myself. The door opens. B walks in and sits next to me. She places her head on my shoulder. “I need to tell you something, Jay.” she calmly said. “I did something that I’m not proud of.” I knew then that this was going be bad. “I had an abortion.” She sobbed.

The room seem like it had no oxygen it while I got cold. The only thing I could hear was my heart beat. I don’t know why she would tell me this unless it wasn’t mine.  I stood up to see her face with tears rolling down.

“Did you cheat on me?” I calmly asked. B shook her head no. “Was you or the baby in any harm?” She shook her head no again. A sinking pit forms in my stomach while I try not to throw up. “Why I love you,” I asked as I hit my knees.

She looks at me. “We’re still kids, Hell we can’t raise one in this house.” She said. “I know, I should have talked to you, but I got scared,” B said as she begins to cry in her lap.

I scoot over to her then raise her head up so that I was looking into her big brown eyes. “Don’t get scared again. I’m here for you, always has been and always will be, I love you.” I told her before I gave her a gentle kiss. “I got to get out for a bit, clear my head,” I told as I was standing up then head out of the door.

Chapter Ten:

I was being rolled down a hallway while doctors and nurse looked at me before shining a bright light in my face then snapping their fingers. Taylor comes rushing over then grabs my hand. I notice that her shirt is covered in blood, that’s when I lose mine hearing. A nurse stops her before we go into another doorway.

Chapter Eleven:

There I was in another fancy hotel room with a bottle of wine out. Steff walks in sunglasses on with a rock tee and her hair up. She shuts the door and walks over to the bed then lays down. I gently take off her sunglasses to see her eyes. “After this tour, I’m yours for three months. It sucks being gone from you for so long.” She said. “I’m going to talk with the big boss and see about us officially dating.”

“I’m just glad that ya’ll haven’t made it big here yet,” I told her. She leans in a kisses me. “God, I missed that.”

She smiles. “Being a star isn’t that important when I’m with you.” A Knock on the door. “I got it.” She said as she walks to the door then opens it.

A Tiny Asian man storms in with his cell phone out. “Rin and Jay Jackson together, are the two of ya’ll dating?” He asked before rushing over to the bottle of wine. “Wine? this is huge so, the two of ya’ll must have a romantic night plan.” I get up and is ready to toss him out of the room.

Steff smiles. “No, we’re friends and been since we first met at the awards,” she said while I just nodded my head yes. “He got the wine cus it’s one of my favorites, I’ll be happy to sign anything for you and I know Jay would too. If you leave, please.” She said trying to get him out of the room. He runs out before either of us could grab a pen or knew what happen. She shuts the door then smiles at me. “Well, we’re caught.”

“How in the hell, did he find us here?” I asked as Steff walks over then kisses me. “Let me know what I can do when dealing with this,” I said.

She smiles. “Go to the lobby and talk to the manager for me.” She said. “I will come up with a few other things” I walk out of the room.

Chapter Twelve:

I was walking into a bedroom. There wasn’t much in there other than a bed and clothes. Allie and another guy are in bed. They’re drunker than skunks. They turn around when they see me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her while he jumped out of the window. She was speechless being she was too drunk to function. I was waiting for a ninja to rip my heart out of my chest so I could wake up from this nightmare. “Jay, I’m sorry.” She said.

“Sorry,” I shouted. “That doesn’t even come close, you got a problem and need help.” Allie shakes her head no. “Yes you do, It’s me or the booze.” I finished telling her as I stormed out of the room.

The Choice Pt 4

Chapter Six:

I was walking out of a building onto a city street. The Angel is beside me. “This is Los Angeles, and you’re in film school. You know AJ, but you got your own place and a job at a local store. It’s March 15th, 2013.”  She said. “Just follow me” The Angel starts walking in front of me. I follow her for a few blocks before we cut down an alley. There was this thin Asian girl with a short haircut in decent clothes digging in a trash can. The Angel just kept on walking while I stopped. “You need some help?” I asked.

She jumps back then looks at me. She didn’t have any makeup on, but I was drawn to her eyes. “I hate to ask but do you have any spare change?” She asked me with a southern draw.

I pulled out my wallet from my pocket to see that I only had twenty’s. “You’re not hooked on anything?” I asked.

She shakes her head no. “I got a hotel room, for a month so I could look for an apartment and a job. But I couldn’t find a job then I kept the room, but now I’m broke.” She said.

I pulled out a twenty and hand it to her. “I’m going to work; I can see if they’re hiring,” I said. “After I get off, we could get something to eat on me.”

She hugs me. “Thank you, I’m Taylor; they told me that there weren’t respectable people here, in LA.” I let out a chuckle. She stops hugging me then looks at me. “What’s funny?”

“I ain’t from here, you might call me a Yankee, but I like to think of myself as a southern boy or a Kentucky gentleman.” I proudly told her. “I’ve met a few decent people here. Let’s get our move on.” I said as I began to follow the Angel again. She walked by my side until I got to work then I walked in.

Chapter Seven:

I started to walk into a fancy hotel room with a big screen on the wall with ugly floral bedding. The wardrobe was open showing a black suit jacket, black pants with a red shirt and black and red striped tie. I walked in, and the Angel follows me in. “Change into the suit.” She said as I shut the door.

“Who was that last girl, she seemed so familiar,” I asked being I know I saw her face before.

The Angel starts to take off my shirt while ignoring the question. “Come on you got to get ready for the awards banquet.” She said as she ripped off my shirt. “It’s the June 15th, 2011,” She said as she bringing my shirt over to me while I was taking off my pants. I quickly got dressed in the suit before transferring my wallet and phone to my suit pocket. The Angel hands me some index cards with speech on them. “This is your speech, it’s straightforward and looks at me while giving it.” She starts to push me out of the room as I put the index cards in my jacket pocket. The door shuts behind me. “You won a writing contest.” She said.

I stop to look at her. “What is it with me and the arts?”

She grabs my hand then pulls me forward. “After you have this experience, it will be like a thunderstorm in your head that you can’t control, it happens a lot.” She said as we started to walk down a flight of steps. She let’s go after we hit half way down, right before the lobby. People was in suits and long dresses. Some of them are heading into another room.

I follow the Angel as she leads me through the doorway and into a lounge. White name cards are on the tables. The Angel brings me to a small table that has three name cards. My name card is next to the wall with a good view of the podium that is next to the awards. I sit down at my name the wait for more people to walk in. It seems like I waited for like ten minutes or so before a stunning Asian woman in a red dress walks up to the table. She looks at the name card next to me. She starts to pull out her chair. “Let me get that for you?” I offered as I stood up.

She smiled then stuck out her hand. “I’m Rin of Fiver,” Rin said as I shook her soft hand.

I smile back. “I’m Josh, but you can call me Jay.” I pulled out her chair then pushed it back in for her. “Rin is an unusual name,” I said as I sat back down.

She chuckles. “My birth name is Stephanie, but Rin is easier for the fans in Korea. You can call me Steff if you want to Jay.” I nodded my head yes. “Your writing was something else. I can’t wait to read more.”

AJ walks over then sits down without a tie or the top button buttoned. He looks over at us. “I’m AJ,” He said as we look at him. AJ looks over Steff up and down while getting a grin on his face. “You’re a cutie if you want to dance at my club, feel free to stop by.” He said.

Steff looks at me then mouths “Just go with it” before turning back to him. “I guess, Jay and I will have to come by some night, won’t we hun?”

I know AJ isn’t buying the lie. “I guess as long as it’s not a bump and grind club,” I said playing along. “I just love to get lost in her eyes.”

AJ’s eyes look back and forth at us. “Y’all wouldn’t like it then.” He said before taking off again.

Steff turns around to me while snickering then I join in. “He was a creep, thanks for playing along.” She said as we stopped.

The lights dimmed while music plays before I could say anything. A spotlight is on the stage while a tall man with a good build walks up to the podium. “I would like to thank the winners and runners up for coming up as well as the judges.” He said. “I’m going to pass it off to Dean Crosby.”

We applause as an older man walks up. “I would like to call up the winner for film, AJ Tritt.” We begin to clap as no one walks up. Dean Crosby looks around, “Is there an AJ Tritt here?” The man from before walks up then whispers something to Dean Crosby while he nods his head. “AJ is here but is caught up with something. So, I’m going to ask for Josh Jackson, the winner of the short story, South region. Still story runner-up and our grand prize winner to come up.” I stand up while everyone is clapping for me, I walk over to the podium. Dean Crosby sticks out his hand before I get to the rostrum. I shake his hand then he leans in. “Make it a short, if you going to speak.” He whispers. I walk over to the podium before staring out into the small crowd that has finished clapping.

My eyes lock on the Angel who is sitting next to Steff. “This is an honor, I’m just speechless,” I said before I started to walk back to the table. The crowd claps as I walk back.

“Josh doesn’t want to clutter up the table with the awards.” The crowd laughs as Dean Crosby joked. “I can’t blame him either.”

I sat down next to Steff as the awards show went on. Steff presented the award for best music. Most people left after the awards while the rest drank themselves silly. Steff and I just got to know each other which was nice before I doorway.

The Choice Pt 3

Chapter Four:

I climb into the passenger seat of a two-seater sports car. The Angel is sitting on my lap. It’s pitch black outside. She whispers in my ear. “It’s February 13th, 2015; this is Los Angeles, the guy that going to climb in the car is your dorm mate, AJ. Y’all are going to Club Sin.” She said. I looked down, and I was in a long sleeve dress shirt and jeans. “The two of ya’ll are in film school.” The car door opens, and a tall, thin man with short brown hair climbs in. “Ready to party on, I got a booth for us,” AJ said.

He starts the car then revs the engine a few times before we take off as some shitty pop music is coming out of the radio. “Right now these bitches are going to be so fucking horny being they need someone to love on since tomorrow is Valentine’s day.” He turns to me. “If you leave, Jay, text me and if you’re fucking put a sock on the door.” He faces the road and floors the gas.

It took us no time to get to Club Sin. People are lined up around the building as we drive past. He pulls in the parking lot then parks in a spot that’s marked VIP 13. He hangs a small thing on the rearview mirror that reads VIP 13. The Angel has disappeared from my lap and is behind the car.

AJ and I step out of the car then head towards the club. The music can be heard from the outside. I followed AJ up to the bouncer. The bouncer nods his head, and we walked in.

The club is dark with flashing lights with loud shitty club music. People are grinding up against each other while spilling drinks. I follow him to a table that’s in the back. We stick out hands, and they stamp them with a 13 then we headed to a table. We sit down as we look out to the floor. “My Pop’s own this place, so the drinks are free.” He yelled. “Only let girls sit here with us.” He turns to the bar then back to me. “Whiskey and Coke right?” I nod yes. “I’ll be back.” AJ takes off to the bar.

The Angel grabs my hand and whispers. “Go on to the floor, by the support beam.” AJ is coming back with a beer in one hand and my drink in the other. He sits down and gives me my drink. I take a slip, and it was so refreshing. We started out to the floor. AJ went nuts grinding a dancing with people while I just watched him. I stood there for a while with the Angel next to me.

A woman with long coal black hair and a red dress with a slit came over to me and grabs hold of me as a guy is right behind her. He goes back in the pit of people. “Sorry,” she said in my ear. I pulled out my phone and type in you want to sit down? “Yeah,” She said. We head back to the booth then sits down. She looked so familiar, but I couldn’t place where she was from. She pulls out her phone from her bra. She types in Thanks. I smiled. I type in my phone; I’m Jay Jackson.

She types in her cell, I’m Miko Chan. It’s hit me who she was then I knew that it was Miko Pus. One of my choices is a porn star; I knew God was looking out for me then. She types in her phone. What do you do?

I respond with film school student and you? She looks at me a shakes her head no. I knew she wasn’t going to tell me and that was okay being that wasn’t something tell someone you first meet. The lights came on, and the music stops as security is trying to break up a fight. “I don’t care for these types of places,” I said.

“Why are you here then,” She asked softly.

I smiled. “I came for a friend of mine. Do you come to these places a lot?”

Miko shakes her head no. “We wrapped up today, and a group of us was coming, so I tagged along. This is not my type of place either?” She said. “You wanna leave and get something to eat?”

I just grinned. “Yeah, I got to text someone.”  AJ walks up to us right before I hit send on my phone.

“Well shit, you’re smoother than I thought.” He turns to Miko. “Do you have any friends I can meet.”

Two girls that are barely dressed walks over. “There you’re Miko.” One said. They look at Me and AJ over. “Who are these two?” She asked.

Miko smiled. “This Jay and his friend.”

“That’s AJ, and we were about ready to leave,” I said getting out of the booth. “I’ll take good care of your friend if you take good care of mine.”

Miko follows me out of the booth. “Have fun ya’ll,” She said right before the music started playing again and the lights dim.

Chapter Five:

I was back in Louisville being I was in my room. So I checked outside, and it was lightly snowing. The Angel is sitting at the foot of my bed. “What gives? I can’t have one night with these girls?” I asked upset.

The Angel gently grabs my face. “Look, I know this is hard for you, but it happens all of the time. It’s called the doorway effect.” She said. “It’s you should remember this night.”

Ding Ding goes my phone. I grab my phone to see a text from B saying can you come over? Then I toss my phone on the bed. “This night again?” I asked. The Angel shook her

head yes. My fist started to hit my pillows as hard as I could then stop after I hit the bed frame being it hurt. “I can’t do this again. The first time it nearly killed me.” I said. The Angel had my phone in her hand and started texting.

“You’re going, and that’s that. Relive the night but don’t leave.”

“Fine, so when I will I doorway?” I asked.

The Angel smiled. “At her place.” She hands me my phone. “Get going” I took off out of my room than the house like a jackrabbit. My car door almost flew off the hinges before I jerked back shut.

The drive was the quickest ever to her house being I wanted to get this night over as soon as I could. The mix of dread and excitement started to come over me. The night wasn’t that bad until her boyfriend showed up that was when it went to hell.

I walked up to the door and was greeted with a smile and a hug by her mom. I felt like a kid again. Her dad walks in and shakes my hand before walking out. B came up to me, in her black sweats and old tee shirt but still looked as good as ever. She hugged me, and I was in heaven, it has been too long since I had one of those hugs. B leads me downstairs then over to long couch which we had some fun times on it. The flat screen T.V. flicker on. She laid her head on my shoulder. I knew that her phone was going to off in a few seconds. “I’m not here if he texts,” I told her.

B gives me a smirk then her phone goes off. She looks at me after checking her phone. “Your physic huh” She joked as she texted him back. “I told him that you are here.” I just shook my head being I know that he was going to be on his way. “I don’t know why the two of you don’t get along.” She said. I wasn’t going to tell her why we didn’t get along being it was simple. He knows that I’m the biggest threat to him. Her phone rings again, so she texts him back then again. She turns off her phone.

We sat for a while then the footsteps started heading downstairs, and I knew it was him. I looked over at B. “I guess; your mom is checking up on us.” B chuckles. “So, you want to get something to eat and watch the drunks,” I asked.

The light flicks on. We turn around to see her little boyfriend standing there. “What the hell happen to girl’s night?” He angrily asked. “Why is he here?”

B looks at me and mouths sorry before turning back to him. “Go upstairs, and I’ll be up in a minute.” She calmly said.

He stands there then braces himself against the wall. “No” He yelled.

B runs over to his side. “Go up the stairs; we can talk about this later.” She demanded calmly. He shakes his head no then pushes her out of the way. I stand up being I wasn’t going to let him push her around. “Sit, Jay,” B said as going to her boyfriend side. “go upstairs, now,” B demanded. He backs hand her across the face. She falls back into the wall and knocks over a picture which causes the glass to shatter.

I start over to B, but he is blocking my way. “Move, please,” I asked trying to get to B. He shakes his head no. “B, are you okay?” I asked before he pushes me back. He takes a swing but misses. So, I gave him a swift punch to the gut as her parents are coming down. She stands up while trying to avoid the glass from the picture. He swings again but misses. I tripped him so he would fall to the floor. I run over to B as soon as her mom gets down the stairs. Her dad looks and walks over to her boyfriend while I checking to see if B was cut. There a loud smack behind us. B’s father is standing over her knocked out boyfriend.

The next couple of hours was a sight with the police coming in and questioning us. The Angel didn’t speak to me, she just patted people’s back, I guess to calm us down. After the cops had left and we cleaned up the broken glass. Her parents left so it was the two of us in the basement again. I got a good look at B with her faint bruise on her cheek. “I should have left.” I said, “I didn’t want any trouble.”

B shakes her head. “Nah, I shouldn’t have told him you were here, we’re done after this.” She said. “He should’ve known that you wouldn’t do anything to me.”

I look her up and down. “Well, unless you wanted me too,” I said. She stares at me for a few seconds then kisses me. It was nothing but a charge of energy while it seems like it lasted for hours. We break apart after a few seconds.

Our eyes meet after the kiss. “Sorry,” B said. “I wanted to see something.” I just smiled. “So, did it feel right for you too.” I just leaned in and kissed her again then we break apart. “I guess so.”

I stand up. “I will come by tomorrow, and we can talk about this, I want us to have clear heads before we do something stupid,” I said. B stands up and hugs me. The hug wasn’t the same like before; I wanted more. The worst part of it was knowing that it was going to be a temporary memory or it made just seemed like a dream.
